day twenty.

Here’s a short one from the other day, think I’m going to try some structured poetry too, maybe start with a hi-cou.

Hip hop

one, two, three

throw the stone,

watch it skip

over the waters edge

skimming life

feel the strife

Then watch as it sinks down.

Below the murky depths

hides the gods

and it falls

never to be seen again

never to feel sunlight

on its stoney face. Gone.

Day nineteen, baking

I had a very lazy day today. Slept in until ten, then sat and read for a couple of hours in my pj’s, I then got dressed and made the fire and baked. A lovely rainy day indoors. I love days like these. I have been writing for a few hours now and this is a poem I came up with.

Rainy, rainy, rainy day indoors

no chores.

Life is what you bake it,

I count the memories not the calories

and bake the world a better place.

Making chewy, gooey chocolate cookies,

eating them by my fire

on this cosy, comfy rainy day.

My happy place is my home,

and my life is always better with freshly baked cookies.

For good things shall always come to those who bake

be it cake,

be it flan.

If you learnt from your gran,

or a book.

Just remember cake is for life not just for Christmas.

Inside here I’ll let the rain wash away

all the pain of yesterday

and hide away with my cookies and my fire

listening to the rain

for those who say sunshine brings happiness

never danced in the rain

for it brings new, fresh opportunity. DSC_0003 (1)

Day Fifteen

Made vegan Chocolate chip pancakes with peanut butter today, and while I was eating I wrote a poem about cooking and baking things vegan and how easy it is. So here it is. They were yummy by the way.

Anything you can make

I can make Vegan,

I can make anything Vegan you’ll see.

Fluffy or creamy

nothing you’ll miss

where every dish is

a winner, winner tofu dinner.

Come try my food,

see for yourself.

Cheesy, easy, dreamy cakes and pasta.

You never loose out,

you only gain so much,

health, love, cruelty free, more

you grow. Inside and out.

Anything you can make

I can make Vegan,

I can make anything Vegan you’ll see.

day twelves the Migraine.

Had a Migraine for the last two days so had to play catch up with the poetry, I did jot notes down, but didn’t complete it, all done now though. I wrote a poem about how a migraine feels, I know a lot of us suffer out there, including my sister who is currently going through a ten day Migraine, Wow. Here’s how I have felt with my Migraine.

I’ve  been under a fog

my Brain short circuited

couldn’t remember how to write,

wait I might, no, no.

It’s a Neurological party in my brain

and pain has gate crashed,

Smashed through, ice pick stabs

blown past my mind

now I cant find…..

I cant see, cant eat

lack of concentration, lack of speech.

My Dreams become my nightmares.

My body quivers

aches and chills

Vomit and numbness.

A Migraine wont kill you, oh no

but they’ll torture you enough to wish they did.

A whole day wasted, sometimes more,

snore, snore, snore.

Go away now, I’ve had enough.

If only I could open my skull,

and scoop out the part that hurts with a melon baller.

But instead I’ll just crawler

back to my bed

and wish I was dead.

But then, you come back,

the fog lifts and it’s like,

Oh, there I am.

Please Migraine, don’t ever come back.

Ten, The ring.

Whilst out walking today with my two dogs, Megan and Ruby, I found a plastic ring and this poem just came to me. I found myself rushing home reciting it so as not to forget it. As soon as I got in I wrote it down, see what you think.

If you found my Diamond ring

You’d feel lucky enough to sing.

If you found my Diamond ring

three wishes I would grant to thee.

If you found my Diamond ring

grow old you’d do

for each wish you’d make

ten years would I take

and my brother, death would awaken

and in the night you’d be taken

never be mistaken,

For greed indeed is a sin,

as is wasting a life.

One life gone in the blinking of mine eye.

If you were unlucky enough to find my diamond ring

You’d run, run, run.

The eighth day

Had a lovely Day off work today, done yoga, been walking, and got loads of writing done, wish every day could be like this. Sorry there’s no new photo’s, I haven’t been taking my camera with me lately, but I’ll be taking trips in Albert again very soon so my camera will be coming along too. Here is my poem from the eighth Day of my poetry challenge.

Magic lives amongst us,

within us and around

Our Mother Earth.

Within every sunset and sunrise

She teaches us

that nothing is permanent

everything wanes and fades,

Life gives way to death.

Rise and fall

Everyday is new.

We are all on a journey,

be it self discovery or Physical,

Inward or out

It’s ok to let go

as each morning we are given a fresh start.

Becoming one with the Earth

Free our mind, our body, our soul.

Magic is the earth

she provides all the nourishment we need

water and soil,

nothing more do we need,

we thrive, we grow

we live free and one with our Mother Earth

the magic is amongst us.

Day seven.

It’s now day seven and here is a poem I wrote after a walk with my dogs. I find walking a peaceful and freeing activity and I cant wait to be back walking amongst the glens in the Highlands of Scotland.

Cold winds blow to chill my bones,

Walking through damp decay,

I feel my feet start to splay,

as my boots clog up with mud.

I trundle on in silent peace

with trusty dogs forever at my side.

The fields are open and free this day

and the birds fly on high, is the end nigh?

We cross a bridge upon a ridge

Then begin heading back

walking the well beaten track.

As we get closer, I start to wonder

Is the coffee pot hot and the fire well lit

Then I am back

to home and hearth , where warmness dwell.

The vegan Movement.

DSC_0081

Its day five and today I wanted to write a poem about Veganism. It’s a growing worldwide movement and a real passion of mine. I have recently joined a vegan activism group in my local area and am looking forward to doing some good for animals and helping others turn to veganism. Going vegan not only benefits you health wise, but saves animal lives, the ocean, the environment and humans as a species. It is the best change you can make in your life. I haven’t eaten meat for twelve years and have been vegan now for two years and I have never looked back or felt better. My dogs are also vegan now for the last six months. Everyone should consider going vegan, once you know the facts and the truth about how we treat animals you wouldn’t touch meat or milk ever again. Even people who say they only eat free range, they are all slaughtered in the same way at the same place, think about it guys. Education is the way forward. I recommend watching, Forks over Knives, Cowspiracy and Earthlings on Netflix. I am vegan for myself, for my planet but most import to me is the innocent lives of the animals that are abused every single day. Animals are friends not food, they are innocent and deserve my protection, that is why I have joined my fellow vegans, to change lives. Please try vegan this year. Ok, rant over, enjoy my Poem.

People always ask, why Vegan?

My question is why not?

You see china eating dog

Oh my God! That’s wrong, right?

Its, the same as eating cow.

There is no excuse when life is life.

You value taste over life.

Animal fear, animals suffer, they want to live, just like you.

Individual, unique, free souls.

They are a prisoner on death row,

there only crime, being an animal.

Some lives matter less, that is the root of all wrong.

The injustice that is done to animals,

Is reason enough, man is selfish, a glutton.

We are killing the ocean, we are killing ourselves.

Man cannot sustain itself on an animal based diet.

We are killing our mother, earth.

See yourself in others, then who can you hurt.

I wish to live in a peaceful, nonviolent world,

therefor I am Vegan

It takes nothing to join the crowd, but everything to stand alone.

Animals have no voice, so you shall never stop hearing mine.

Help change the world,

Be kind, be Vegan.

You have only to look into an animals eyes to see there intelligence, their fear and also their trust in you. How could you kill. All animals are the same, if you say you love animals then stop eating them. Love one love all. All life should be equal, I value my life no less than a cow or pig or dog, why am I better than they!

Day four

I’m on day four now and finding it easy so far, here’s my poem from today.

‘up and at em’

out of bed with the birds,

ready to catch the worm

watch me squirm.

Work all day, aching feet

I don’t eat meat.

Writing words on paper,

email potential agents, prospects high

watch me fly, from great heights

like a bat in the night

I know it’s right,

feel the moon shine bright

filtered down through trees in the forest

shafts of glitter.

Tired now, hard days

ready to lay my head

upon my bed.

Start again fresh

do it all again on the morrow

I feel no sorrow, for tomorrow

as I’ll write all my day long,

In happiness and peace

with ease it shall flow.

For now I’ll go, and Dream, dream, dream.

365 poems.

This year I am going to write a poem a day, amongst editing my novel, finding a publisher for my Christmas story and working on my trilogy. ;/  I have written two, obviously, but here is the one from day two. I wont be putting them all on here, you’ll have to buy the book next January to read them all.

This has no title, I don’t know yet if they are all going to be untitled, they’ll be kind of a diary in poetry from. What do you think?

The tree came down today,

to my Dismay.

OH, how I’ll miss Christmas.

Had a fight with the lights

That would not come down,

Had to rip and pull, Behave like a bull.

Cut open my Thumb.

Everything now boxed and bagged

Until next year.

Were starting fresh and new and clean.

A brand new you, a brand new year.

Clearing out cupboards,

eating everything in sight, ready to start that diet,

Give it a week and there’ll be a riot.

So you’ve set your goals

this years the bars high.

Write more, learn a language.

Will it get done, only time can tell,

and this time next year you’ll be doing it all over again.

Another thing I want to do is write more on here, so Ill try and post every other day, so its bye for now and don’t forget to purchase my books, ‘Poetry form the soul’ and ‘Poems by a teenage me’ by R.J.Dunning both available on amazon now. I will have my third poetry book on there too in a couple of months. xxx
